2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ
The Jeep Cherokee XJ was produced from 1984 until 2001 and is one of the more common Jeeps you'll see on American roads today. Although it's name came from a truck-based Jeep of the 1970's, the XJ version was not based on a truck chassis and is instead considered the forefather of the modern SUV.

The Cherokee was the first unibody Jeep. Engines ranged from an I4 to a V6, with many in between. A diesel I4 was available in some markets.

The only major update on this vehicle came in 1997, when interior and exterior upgrades and redesigns were made. This came after Jeep thought it had discontinued the model in favor of the Grand Cherokee. It turned out the Cherokee was too popular and sales were too good to let it go and replace it with a bigger vehicle for a different market. The Cherokee was only discontinued in 2001 after Jeep had found a suitable replacement in the Liberty and now several other models.

There were many different trim levels on this SUV. They included the SE, Sport, Country, Classic, Limited, and Laredo.

These are still very popular vehicles on the used market. You can find them just about anywhere, but you'll find better deals on places like eBay than in your local newspaper.
