This vehicle is similar to the Compass in that it is based on the Mitsubishi GS platform. Unlike the Compass, the Patriot is more of a classic Jeep in that it is a four door wagon and essentially the latest replacement for the Cherokee that has not been around for about 6 years.
The American market gets the GEMA I4 engine, while the European and Australian markets can get the Patriot with the diesel I4. Why they call this vehicle the Patriot and then sell it in multiple countries I cannot say. Email Mr. Jeep and ask him.
Transmission options include the 5 speed manual and 6 speed manual CVT. This is a front wheel drive vehicle, unlike most other SUVs in the Jeep lineup.
This is not the same type of offroad vehicle as the Cherokee. It's more refined, and less capable. The Freedom-Drive II version is much better, however. It has more offroad capabilities than just about any vehicle in its class, ever.
These cars are too new to be on the used market in most locations. You might be able to find some dealers listing them on eBay, if not now, then very soon. Some end of season stock will always end up there from the high volume dealers looking to make room. You also might find some aftermarket parts on ebay.
