This is the first large car sold by Kia, and it shares many components and a platform with the Hyundai XG Grandeur, also called the Azera, which is now defunct.
Not all of this car is a Mercedes ripoff. The rear is actually more similar to the Lincoln Town Car. The Mercedes E-Class and Lincoln Town Car mix make this a car something that could only come out of the Asian market: a hybrid counterfeit.
The only engine option on this car is the DOHC V6, which makes 200 horsepower. The Canadian model actually gets a much more powerful engine.
Kia has attempted to draw customers to this car and others in their lineup with a 100,000 mile or 10-year powertrain warranty. That's very reassuring for a company which once made cars that struggled to make it that far and long.
This car should start showing up on the used market soon, if it hasn't already in your market. A lot of the first models should be off lease by now, which means quite a few getting dumped out there on used car lots. Look out for them, or just do the easy thing and check the listings on eBay.
