The engine in the 1969 Indy was the 4.2 liter V8. In later models, from 1970 to 1972, a 4.8 liter V8 was offered as an option. The 4.9 liter V8 from the Ghibli SS was also made available in 1971. It was downrated to 320 horsepower, compared to the 335 hp the Ghibli SS received.
The 4.9 liter engine would be the only engine offered on this car in 1973 and 1974. That engine featured 4 twin choke Weber carbs.
The transmission options on this car included a 5 speed manual and a 3 speed Borg Warner automatic.
This car, like many other Maseratis, was designed by Vignale.
These cars are obviously quite rare. You can find them through your local Maserati dealer IF they happen to also sell the classic cars. You might also find them at classic and exotic car auctions. They do turn up on eBay from time to time, so keep an eye out. |
