The Mistral was sold as a
2 seat GT coupe or as a 2 seat Spyder.
The engine options for this car included the 3500, 3700, and 4000cc. The most popular one is the largest one, which sold in low numbers and offer increased performance figures.
There were only 120 Spyders and 830 Coupes of the Mistral ever produced. I'm sure the number of surviving cars is much lower, as these cars were only sold from 1963 until 1970.
This was one of the few Italian cars to feature fuel injection. This system did not always work so well, especially with tuning, so many buyers would end up converting them to a carbureted system, especially in the United States.
These cars are obviously very rare, but there are different ways you can find them if you are planning on buying one. You can go to collector car auctions, which are located across the country at various points during the year (a good option if you have your own RV). There is also the eBay option, which I find to be the easiest one. One of these cars will pop up on there every few weeks. |
