The Spyder is part of Maserati's effort to bring the brand back to its former glory. There was a time when Maserati was known for making fast Italian supercars. They leaned a little to far towards luxury and not enough towards sport in the late 80's through the late 90's, and the brand recognition among sports car enthusiasts was beginning to fade.

The Spyder features a 4.2 liter V8 engine that makes 390 horsepower. It's fast and it features the luxury options that are expected of this brand. In many ways it resembles the recent Aston Martins in both style and function.

This is the first Maserati sold in the United States since 1990, bringing the brand back to one of the richest markets in the world. It is also the first naturally aspirated Maserati produced in decades.
