The Mazda3 has been sold as a 5 door hatchback and as a 4 door sedan. The sedan is actually about 2 inches longer than the hatchback.

A total of 7 different engines have been sold on this front wheel drive car. All of them have been inline 4 cylinder engines, and their sizes have ranged from 1.4 liters to 2.3 liters.

There have been 2 automatic transmissions paired with those engines and one manual. The automatics were 4 and 5 speed and the manual is a 5 speed.

In the United States there are two trim levels of the Mazda3. They are the i and the s, and the major difference is the engine. The i gets a 2.0 liter engine, while the s gets a 2.3 liter engine.

Performance numbers for these cars is not very impressive, but there is a sportier version released as the Mazda3 MPS or the Mazdaspeed3 in the United States.

These cars have found their way to the used car market if you're looking to buy one at a discount. You can find them listed on eBay, which is my favorite place to buy cheap used cars.
