This car was sold with 3 different engines. The first two were I4 engines, but the third was a very odd V6. It was a 1.8 liter with dual overhead cams, making it one of the smallest V6 engines ever put in a production vehicles.
This car was underpowered when new, but many owners have swapped their engines for a more powerful alternative. The GS trim models would take a KL03 from a Ford Probe GT (2nd gen) or a KLZE from an Eunos 800 in Japan. The RS would take a BP, B6T, or even a BP-T engine. With the new engines, these cars became true sports cars that could keep up with other sporty compacts on the market.
With these cars becoming popular on the sports car mod and custom market and not selling very well when new, chances are you won't find one at your local used car lot. You can find them elsewhere, on places such as eBay. There are also some very rare parts for these cars on there.
