There were 2 generations of this car. The first generation featured an I4 engine. The top version of this engine was the 145 horsepower turbocharged 4 cylinder. The car had an electronic two-mode system that allowed the driver to drive in either ECON or POWER mode, depending on how much gas mileage they were looking to get and who they wanted to impress. Trim lines included the DX, LX, LE, and GT, in order of least expensive to most expensive. The GT got the turbocharged engine, 4 wheel ABS disc brakes, and adjustable suspension.
Production of the second generation MX-6 started in 1993. This car was not just redesigned, it was different in almost every way from the previous model. The engine was now much smoother with its revs, and a V6 was now available. The US version A-Spec now only had 2 trim lines, the RS and LS. The LS got a rear spoiler, fog lights, and better hubcaps. It also got the V6 engine, which was only an option on the base model RS.
