The Evolution models were only built so Mercedes Benz could race the car in certain circuits that required certain production numbers.

At the time of the 190's production, AMG was still a separate company that tuned Benz's. They got their hands on this car and whipped up a rather trick version of this car with 25 more horsepower and an aero body package.
