The second generation Mirage that appeared on U.S. shores was a front or four wheel drive car with an I4 engine. There was a turbocharged model also available to U.S. buyers. These cars were sold as a 3 door hatchback, 4 door sedan, 5 door hatchback, or 5 door wagon. It was the first Mitsubishi to be sold under the Mitsubishi name in the United States.
Third generation Mirages were not available in the wagon body style. These cars got smaller and more nimble, and that trend continued with the 4th generation in 1991 (1993 in the United States).
The wagon made a return with the 5th generation in 1997, but it was not sold in the United States.
The last Mirage was sold in the U.S. in 2002. For the better part of two decades the Mirage was sold here under the ES, LS, and DE trim levels. They proved to be more nimble and sporty than most of the domestic subcompacts.
If you have a Mirage that you need parts for, or if you're looking to buy a used Mirage
and don't want to spend more money than you have to, I recommned using eBay. Their cars and parts are usually cheaper than you'll pay elsewhere. |
