The first generation of this vehicle was sold from 2003 to 2006 in the United States. It featured a variety of I4 engines, including a DOHC turbocharged version. Although it comes standard with a 5 speed manual transmission, a semi-automatic 4 and 5 speed transmission are also available. There were three trim levels on this vehicle: LS, XLS, and Limited (introduced in 2005).
The second generation Outlander comes with upgraded engine and transmission options, with a V6 being the top choice engine and transmissions ranging up to a 6 speed INVECS-III semi-automatic.
These cars are all fairly new, but you can still find some on the used car market. If you are looking for a used compact crossover SUV, this will probably be one of your cheaper options. The best place to find them is on eBay, where cars that are sometimes under 1 year old get listed for reasons that I will never understand (unemployed people with $5 in their bank account thinking they can buy a new SUV? Sure, why not?).
