There were two different cab bodies available for the Hardbody truck. They were called the Standard and the King. In some markets, and during certain years, the King was also called the Extended.
There were also two different bed lengths sold on the Hardbody pickup. They were standard, which was six feet long, and long, which was seven feet long.
The 1986 through 1990 models were sold with an I4 or a V6 engine. The V6 made only 145 horsepower. The later models, sold from 1991 to 1997, also had those same engine options, but each was more powerful than the previous engines. The I4 could now make 134 horsepower, while the V6 could make 153 horsepower.
Transmission options were 4 speed automatic or 4 speed manual. In later models, a 5 speed manual transmission was also sold with these trucks.
These trucks sold very well, and they are still popular on the used market. They are also popular among off-roaders. If you are looking to buy a used hardbody truck, or if you are looking for parts to turn yours into the ultimate off road truck, your best bet is using eBay. Everything on there seems to be much cheaper than at the auto parts store.
