The Cutlass Calais was bigger and more powerful than Oldsmobile's other compact car at the time: the Firenza. It also had more powerful engine options. While the Firenza's top engine option only made 125 horsepower, the Cutlass Calais had a Quad 4 I4 engine that could make 190 horsepower. That's amazing output from a 4 cylinder engine.

The top performing Cutlass Calais was the Quad-442. That was the car that got the top Quad-4 engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. It could not only demolish the other Calais' with their weaker I4 or heavier but less powerful V6's, but also just about any other car in the compact car class at the time.

These cars were only sold as 2 door coupes or 4 door sedans. All of them were front wheel drive.

You can still find some of the Cutlass Calais' on the used car market. If you want to buy a used Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais, the place I'd go first is eBay auctions. You can get good deals on used cars and also lots of cheap parts.
