The Corniche came standard with a V8 engine with SU carbs or a Borsch fuel injection system starting in 1980. The transmission was a 3 speed automatic, which was the Turbo Hydramatic 400 made by General Motors.
Some of the luxury features of this car include the four wheel independent suspension and coil springs that were helped out by a hydraulic leveling system that made sure the car was always riding on the level. It also had disc brakes, and ventilated disc brakes starting in 1972, at a time when most other cars were still using drum brakes.
There have been several generations of the Corniche, each denoted with a roman numeral. Aside from the original model, there was the Corniche II, Corniche III, Corniche IV, and the most recent Corniche for the year 2000.
The Bentley Corniche made from 1971 until 1984 was the same car but with some different badging and other minor cosmetic changes.
There were about 10,000 Rolls Royce Corniches made during its long lifespan. You can still find some out there on the used luxury car market. The easiest place to look for one is on eBay.
