The ION was sold as a 2 door coupe, 4 door sedan and 4 door coupe. The engine options included a L61 or LE5 I4 or a LSJ supercharged I4. These engines were paired with either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission.

The Saturn ION Redline was the top performance ION model.
