The first generation of the VUE was sold from 2002 until 2007. It featured a I4 engine standard with 2 V6 upgrades and also a hybrid option in the later years.
The high performance version of the VUE is called the Redline, while the hybrid version is called the Greenline. The Vue Greenline is a mild hybrid, which basically means that an electric motor assists the gasoline engine but never powers the car completely. The increase in fuel economy has been measured to be about 20% better than that of the regular gasoline engine.
The second generation VUE made its debut for the 2008 model year. It also has an I4 standard with a couple of V6 options. Transmission options include a 6 speed automatic or a 4 speed automatic. You'll have to ask Saturn execs where the stick shift versions of the VUE are.
A plug-in hybrid of the VUE will be introduced in 2009. Look for it to have much better mileage than the other models, including the current Greenline.
The Saturn VUE can be found in decent numbers on the used SUV market. Some good deals can be found on eBay, along with Craigslist. Do your research to find out how much you should be paying for a specific year and mileage.
