The Shelby Series 1 was actually powered by an engine from an Oldsmobile. That's right, the Supercharged L47 V8 from the Oldsmobile Aurora was the muscle under the hood of this modern muscle car. With a lightweight body and an engine built for a beast, this car could go zero to 60 in 4 and a half seconds and do the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds. The top speed on this car is a blistering 185 miles per hour.
This car is very rare, with only about 500 of them sold worldwide. If you want to drive one, your best chance will be by buying a copy of Gran Turismo 4, which features a 2003 Series 1 Supercharged, or Forza Motorsport, which has a 1999 Series 1.
If you really must have the real thing; the pinnacle of the modern muscle roadster, you can sometimes find them listed on eBay, where they'll often sell for high 5 figures or even low 6 figures. I think this is one of those cars that will actually appreciate in value over the years as people recognize it as one of the top American roadsters of modern times.
