My Kid of The Week
|
Last week, Shelby was chosen as "Kid of the Week" for her class. She was very excited because she got to be the line leader and teacher's helper all week. In addition to those special privileges, she was able to bring something for show and tell each day. Friday, however was the best day for my kid of the week. She got to bring someone special to class. That someone special was yours truly! I met her at lunch with her favorite, tator tots with cheese and popcorn chicken and a cherry coke fro

My friend Derek Perkins’ son, Mike Mike, had his picture in the paper this weekend. He’s playing high school football in Valparaiso, Indiana. He ran for 197 yards in just 7 carries. Here are two stories in the Valpo newspaper: – October 4: Valpo finds plenty of ways to punish Pirates – October 5: Valpo running backs sharing, winning Here’s a great pic from the paper: Mike’s a junior. He had a good season last year at St. Francis High here in SoCal. Derek, my friend and the former executiv

McCain Wants To Talk About Dangerous? OK
|
coattails This morning CBS News reported that Lagging In The Polls, Palin Shifts To Fear Tactics. Can anyone in their right mind take A Know Nothing Winky-Dinky seriously enough to fear the nonsense that comes randomly shooting out of her lipsticked trap? Apparently not in Virginia, where Obama now holds a double-digit lead over McCain. She keeps using words like "dangerous," "fearful" and "afraid" in the increasingly hysterical and desperate speeches the McCain team writes for her and it only r

Obama, Alinsky and voter fraud in Ohio
|
Palestra.net has been doing some great reporting about voter fraud and questionable activities in Columbus, especially in the last 7 days when people could both register and vote on the same day. I wrote about Shelby Holliday's story on a homeless man voting in Ohio before going back 'home' to Chicago. I've just seen this video with Tiffany Wilson, also from Palestra.net, reporting to Fox News about a conversation with a volunteer who was encouraging people to vote for Obama. Wilson said the

Turning The Consolidation Moment Into A Movement
|
It is inevitable. It’s the “consolidation moment,” the time in every meeting where the future of Memphis is being discussed. It’s when someone holds up the merger of city and county governments as the answer to all that ails our city. Frequently mentioned in these merger moments is the poster child of all things virtuous when it comes to Memphians’ perceptions of consolidation – Nashville. But these days, Louisville is more and more added to the mix. We’ve cultivated a mythology about consoli

The 2009 Ford Mustang Lineup

The Ford Mustang is a classic car and while its very existence was put into jeopardy several times throughout the years, today the 2009 Mustang still stands for great looks, a muscular engine and top performance. For the 2009 model year, Ford is offering a variety of Mustangs to fit almost any budget and performance level. There are actually three flavors of the Mustang for 2009 including the V6 cruiser, a V8 GT with extra muscle and a soon to be classic Mustang Shelby GT500 Cobra Coupe. 200

Obama makes history in Stockton
|
For the first time since 1936, the Stockton Record is endorsing a Democrat for president. Can the Orange County Register be far behind? From the Associated Press: The newspaper says it’s supporting Barack Obama over Republican John McCain because the Democratic candidate has “demonstrated he will think things through, seek advice and actually listen to it.” The editorial also credits Obama with an ability to inspire and said he would put regulators in federal oversight agencies that were “sy

Why We Still Live Here
|
After the last posting Why Do They Stay?, I anticipated hearing the question, "Why do you still live there?" And I have. The question has come from several sources since many of you link my blogs with your own or send them to your friends. In addition, quite a few newspapers printed that last one ... My point is that I have had more than ample opportunity to talk about and think about my answers. And they are not as simple as I'd first imagined. The answers are shallow in places, but some go mu

Using Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Laws to Get Rid of Your Debts

by Shelby Riddenbach Chapter 7 usually discharges more debts than other types of bankruptcy in accordance with chapter 7 bankruptcy laws. That means lots of debts are forgiven when a person files chapter 7 bankruptcy and creditors are forbidden from taking further collection actions against the debtors. However, the chapter 7 bankruptcy laws allow many exceptions. The chapter 7 bankruptcy laws are complicated because there are many exceptions so many people seek the help of a bankruptcy attorn

GARI Replaces KITT in ManiaTV’s ‘Midnight Rida’
|
As much as I love seeing bits of Carl’s Jr. hanging from David Hasselhoff’s nose, I think he’s going to have to hand over the wheel to Erik Nicolaisen (a comedian with several humorous reels on YouTube), the star of ManiaTV’s online original Knight Rider spoof, Midnight Rida. The mainstream, high-budget Knight Rider take-off that came out earlier this year on NBC was critically panned (despite it featuring some pretty big names, including Val Kilmer as the voice of the sarcastic, funtabulous
